Some years back a close friend asked me what I would like to do. Spontaneously I answered: I would love to own a flower shop. I daydreamed: the smell and sight of flowers in a relaxing, calming atmosphere, chill out music, some mouthwatering treats. A warm, enchanting shop a bit old style. A safe place where you just feel welcome, unwind from the day-to-day stress and beautiful, blossoming flowers creating fresh, lightly sweet scented smell. Heaven.
Flowers and nature always captured my attention. I am a very natural person. I pretty much grew up outdoors, loved the free spirit, wildness and natural elements of our garden.
Until today, I am amazed how detailed, tiny, delicate nature creates flowers with colors, patterns and petals. Flowers spread happiness. Plants create oxygen for us to breathe. Imagine, you walk through the Singapore CBD or the financial district of any big city in this world, all people are serious and rushing. Noises from phones, traffic and advertising are overwhelming you and suddenly a courier person with a big flower bucket is crossing your way. My face lightens up. I can’t hide my smile. All my positive emotions are wakened: the silent garden of love, the garden of flowers & plants. To me it is a place of growth, a place of energy, a place where one can talk and nurture. Well get yourself a small plant, nurture it, talk to it, see its beauty and get inspired by natures little details.
After my journey of being pregnant and giving birth to my daughter in 2010 and my son in 2013, I found a deep, inner and very satisfying connection similar to the one with the flowers: making, conceiving, delivering and caring for a baby is an amazing and individual journey. I am amazed about the human, especially female, reproductive system. It’s a nature’s wonder. It’s filigree - similar to each flower I know. Knowing and sharing details about a couple’s journey involved in conceiving, growing and nurturing a child is breathtaking.
Being a passionate mother of 4 kids living in a patchwork work family, has contributed and daily contributes to my fundus of experience.
Well you might say I haven’t gone through IVF or other treatments myself, that's true. Well I see my biggest contribution with my belief in possible pregnancies and nature’s role, my very positive experience about pregnancy and giving birth. I know a lot of things are possible. Also the fact of being a "mother" of step children before having own children has thought me a lot. We are all individual. I think it is time for positive pregnancy stories :)!
